STAR LAB TO SPEAK AT EMBEDDED LINUX CONFERENCE / OPEN IOT SUMMIT

Star Lab, the industry leader in embedded software security for embedded systems, today announced that it will speak at the Linux Foundation’s (LF’s) Embedded Linux Conference (ELC)and Open IoT Summit being held in Portland, OR February 21st-23rd. In addition to speaking at the conference, Star Lab will have a booth in the sponsor showcase area.

According to the Linux Foundation, ELC is the premier vendor-neutral technical conference for companies and developers using Linux in embedded products. Now in its 12th year, the conference gathers user-space developers, product vendors, kernel and systems developers to collaborate. OpenIoT Summit, which runs concurrently with ECL, is a technical event created to serve the unique needs of system architects, firmware developers, software developers and application developers in this emerging IoT ecosystem.

Jonathan Creekmore, a Star Lab Embedded Systems / Security Software Engineer with over 16 years of experience, will present “Rust: Removing the Sharp Edges from Systems Programming” on Thursday, February 23rd. In his presentation, Jonathan will give an overview of the Rust programming language and explain how systems programmers can use it to protect their programs from memory corruption and data races, leading to safer, more secure programs. Additionally, he will show how to use meta-rust to bring Rust programs into Yocto systems.

Michael Ring, Star Lab’s VP of Products, commented that “the ELC / Open IoT Summit presents a unique opportunity for Star Lab to educate the Linux community on real-world reverse-engineering and cyber attacks against their systems. In addition to educating developers and architects on offensive threats, Star Lab will also showcase embedded operating system / application hardening products and secure embedded virtualization technologies to industry partners and potential end use customers. We look forward to providing valuable insight into operational security concerns, and demonstrating technical solutions that address these difficult issues.”
