Department of Energy – Connected Lighting Systems Workshop

Star Lab, the industry leader in software security for embedded systems, announced today that it will speak at the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Connected Lighting Systems Workshop. The connected lighting conference is being held in Santa Clara, CA June 7-8. The workshop gathers top experts in the lighting and IT industries for cross-cutting dialogue on the promise, potential, and challenges of connected lighting systems. Cross industry collaboration is essential if the full benefits of connected lighting systems are to be realized. Workshop attendees will take a close look at key barriers and issues, and discuss what actions are needed to move connected lighting systems forward.

Michael Ring, Star Lab’s VP of Product Development with over 25 years of operational software security experience, will present “How Can We Ensure That Cybersecurity Issues Do Not Limit Connected Lighting Potential?” on the first day of the workshop. In his presentation, Mr. Ring will explore threat vectors, define rogue actors, discuss vulnerabilities, consider “what doesn’t work” with respect to security, and give practical examples of what steps can be taken to protect a connected lighting system.
